Promoting Just and Effective Solutions to End Gender-Based Violence
September 12, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
On September 12, 2018, the ASU School of Social Work is pleased to host, in partnership with ACESDV, a Grand Challenges Event – Promoting Just and Effective Solutions to End Gender-Based Violence. The spirit of the meeting is to gather practitioners, students, advocates, activists, and academics to discuss issues of gender-based violence. We will be celebrating the excellent work that is going on locally and have keynotes by national scholars, Tonya Edmond and Tricia Bent-Goodley. Additional presenters will cover issues of immigration, refugees, reproductive coercion, sexual violence, and technology. The afternoon will include the formal launch of Survivor Link (the expansion of the ASU School of Social Work AmeriCorps program) and a social justice dialogue exercise led by the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. By bringing together these parties we plan to push the field of social work forward with renewed energy while continuing a tradition of collaboration with the community.
The event is free and we encourage you to invite your colleagues and staff to attend. Social Work CEU credits will be offered (at no cost to attendees) and we will provide breakfast and lunch.
