The Amendment is a powerful and inspiring story of finding triumph over tragedy, injustice, and loss.  This movie portrays the true story of Brooks Douglass who, along with his sister Leslie, survived a horrific and devastating crime.

In 1979, the Douglass family became the victims of an unthinkable murderous attack that claimed the lives of Brooks’ parents and initially sent teenager Brooks into an emotional tailspin.  Douglass eventually regained his footing and found triumph over tragedy through faith and forgiveness.  After the attack, Douglass went on to become the youngest state senator in Oklahoma history. As a state senator, he authored and championed fifteen pieces of legislation protecting victims’ rights.

The Amendment features Mike Vogel (“The Brave” and “The Help”) and Taryn Manning (“Orange Is The New Black” “Hawaii Five-0”). In his film debut, Brooks Douglass plays tribute to his father by playing him in the movie.

This is an inspiring film about tragedy and forgiveness, and showcases that we are capable of far more than we ever thought possible.

This one-time event comes to cinemas nationwide on Thursday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. local time, from Fathom Events.

They will be gathering in the lobby at 6:30 p.m.

Following the feature content, audiences will see a panel of experts discussing the importance of victims’ rights. The panel will be led by Chris Harrison (ABC’s The Bachelor) and includes the film’s writer/producer Brooks Douglass, lead actor Mike Vogel, and others.
